Recycling of your waste – Electronic and computer equipment

What is EPRA ? It is a national recycling program financed by Eco-fees paid on new electronic or computer equipment.

ARPE collects end-of-life electronic products from ecocentres, retail stores and special collection sites, totaling more than 2,500 official drop-off points across the country.

The products are then sent to audited and approved specialized recyclers. The latest technologies are used to dismantle the appliances and recover raw materials such as glass, plastic, gold, and copper. Substances of concern like mercury and lead are also handled responsibly to protect the environment and the health and safety of the workers who handle them. The recovered materials are then reintroduced into the production chain and used to manufacture new products.

By bringing your old, unusable electronic products to ARPE’s official drop-off points, you are helping to:

• that they do not end up in landfills;
• that they are not illegally exported or handled by negligent recyclers;
• that valuable resources are recovered and reintegrated into the production chain.

Aftermarket audio and/or video and location components for vehicles including: radios, DVD, CD and/or cassette players designed to be recessed (including those with integrated satellite radio and/or GPS functions), amplifiers, frequency equalizers, speakers, video player systems, video display devices (including those with integrated tuners), rear-view cameras, location systems designed for use in a vehicle whether recessed or not (e.g. automotive or marine GPS receivers and components), ceiling speakers, wall-mounted speakers.
